Alhassan Gyawu felt motivated to travel abroad for greener pastures after his ex-girlfriend rejected his marriage proposal because he was financially unstable.
The UK-based Ghanaian disclosed that the heartbreak inspired him to do better. In an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV AFRICA, Alhassan indicated that he intentionally called his ex-girlfriend after he got to the UK for her reaction.
“I worked as a mechanic at Kumasi Magazine. My mom also put pressure on me to marry, but my ex-girlfriend was acting up. I was in love with her, but I realised she was not ready, so I kept the money for the wedding and saved it towards travelling abroad.
My ex was the first person I called when I got to the UK. It was a video call. Her sister saw me and asked whether I was in Ghana, but I answered, ‘No, I’m in the UK.’ My ex started crying and couldn’t say a word,” he narrated.
According to Alhassan, her ex eventually asked her for money, but he refused to help her because “it is still magazine money. There is oil on the money, so I would not help her.”
Responding to whether he would return home to find a partner, Alhassan gave a negative reply saying, he would prefer to marry a lady in the UK.
