UAE-based Ghanaian Patrick Nyarko revealed he earned almost GHS20,000 from tomato farming within three months but quit to travel for greener pastures.
Speaking with SVTV AFRICA’s DJ Nyaami, Patrick indicated that he diverted to farming after years as a street hawker during the pandemic. Patrick admitted that farming was profitable, but he could not rely on it.
“I had never seen that amount of money in my life, but I got that from farming. I decided to travel because I can’t survive on farming alone. It is a good venture if you have enough capital to invest in it.
I’ve always believed that hustling in Europe would help me. That’s why I decided to come to Dubai while searching for a chance to move to Europe.”
Patrick Nyarko then disclosed that he earned almost GHS20,000 after three months of tomato farming. Patrick chose to travel to the UAE on a tourist visa instead of risking his money on a business venture.
“The agent told me I was coming to work in a KFC shop, but it was all lies. Dubai is great, but some Ghanaian agents deceive workers. I paid GHS10,000 for his service, including rent.”
Mr Nyarko shared more about his struggles in the UAE and how he overcame them.
