Naomi Akpene, a Ghanaian based in the UK, openly admitted to dating men solely for financial gain rather than love or companionship.
Naomi indicated that after moving to the UK to join her parents, they did not help her integrate into the system and had to struggle on her own. In a chat on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Naomi indicated that she sought help from men instead of family because they were unwilling to offer support.
“I’ve had to break through my way. My mother could not support me, so I did it myself. It was tough because I had to deal with relationship issues while hustling.
I dated a guy solely for his support, not because I loved him. I dated him only for the money because sometimes I didn’t even have bus fare to church. Some were guys I would not have looked at if it were not for the money,” she recounted.
Naomi indicated that her father rejected two men she wanted to marry despite having kids together. According to Naomi, her father failed to give her reasons for his disapproval. As a result, she decided to marry the next one in secret.
“I didn’t discuss him with anyone. We just went to court and got married. It was a lesson for me. I had two kids with the first one and the third child with the second man. I didn’t have that rapport with my parents. I didn’t want my mum’s presence, but I sobbed quietly in her absence. I loved my aunt more,” Noami added.
