US-based Ghanaian Vida Thompson disclosed that her marriage collapsed because she rushed into it, and with the wrong idea.
In a chat on SVTV AFRICA with DJ Nyaami, Vida indicated that she realised her ex-husband proposed marriage for a resident permit. Vida admitted that she was growing old and wanted kids. As a result, she decided to use it to her advantage.
“We both had reasons for getting married. I was growing old and wanted kids, while he wanted documents. I didn’t mind that he wanted the documents as long as he was single and wanted to get married because I wanted kids.
Eventually, our communication got worse because I had got what I wanted. I was desperate for kids and didn’t care if the father was around or not. I just wanted children,” she said.
Mrs Thompson and her ex-husband were married for 11 years. She mentioned they attempted to resolve their conflicts, but the problems persisted until he obtained the permit. Miss Vida advised young ladies to “not let people tell you that you don’t need a man. You’ll need a man even after you’ve got the kids you want.”
