UAE-based Ghanaian Ama Konadu has stated that she would rather stay jobless in Dubai than in Ghana because she cannot survive the economic crisis Ghana is currently experiencing.
In a chat on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Ama Gold, as she is known on TikTok, disclosed that she returned to Ghana to stay after years in Dubai, but she had to fly back after four days. The cost of living and rising food costs in Ghana shocked her.
“When I visited, I spent more than GHS200 to prepare Banku and okra stew for lunch. It shocked me because the food costs in Kumasi are cheaper. So I called someone in Dubai to book a flight ticket for me because I couldn’t stay in Ghana.
I had decided to stay permanently, but I left in four days. I’m jobless now, but I’d rather be here than stay in Ghana. I’ll know how to survive in UAE, but I can’t survive in Ghana. I’d have to depend on my mother, and I can’t stand that,” she said on SVTV AFRICA.
Ama Gold mentioned that she makes money from cooking for Ghanaian men who cannot cook. Speaking on rent, Ama revealed that she spends GHS5000 (1606 UAE Dirhams). Ama added that she hopes to travel to the US soon.
