Eric Afari, a Ghanaian residing in the United States, shared that his life took a turn for the better a year after he won a visa lottery and immigrated to America.
In an interview on Daily Hustle Worldwide with DJ Nyaami, Eric disclosed that he earns $5000 monthly as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) and owns several properties in Ghana. The young man mentioned that after a year in the US, he brought a GHS90,000 car.
“I’d be lying if I told you my life hasn’t changed. Most of my colleagues in Ghana are still jobless, and those employed make about GHS1800. I make $25 per hour and $2500 every two weeks. After taxes, I get about $5000, and I pay $700 for rent. I’ve decided to save $3000 every month after supporting the family in Ghana,” he said.
Speaking on his visa lottery win, Eric revealed that a travel agent with connections to his school’s authorities applied on behalf of over 10,000 students without their knowledge. Only three of the students won, including Eric.
“I just received a phone call from an agent, but I thought it was a scam. Eventually, I went there to check it out, and it was real. That was how my journey to America began,” Eric said on SVTV AFRICA.
