UK-based Ghanaian Richmond Kyereme disclosed that he made about GHS90,000 from Sakawa and eventually left the country.
In a chat on SVTV AFRICA with DJ Nyaami, Richmond indicated that he was influenced by friends to join the illegal practice and made about GHS90,000 cumulatively. He revealed that he visited a ritualist to manipulate victims for the fraud to succeed.
“I made about GHS90,000, but I didn’t get that a once. After that, I got small amounts, but that was the biggest amount. If you start showing off and spending it on women, you begin to lose it.
When you start Internet fraud, even without spiritual backing, you’ll make small cash. After a while, you won’t get as much, and you’re under pressure to fund the new lifestyle. That’s where you seek spiritual backing,” he disclosed.
Richmond mentioned that while in the fraud practice, he began the process to travel abroad. He tried six times before getting a visa to the UK.
“If you’re already in it, look for opportunities to travel with the money you’ve made. You can’t make money from that anymore unless you’re visiting Juju.”
Sakawa is a Ghanaian term for illegal practices which combine modern Internet-based fraud with African traditionalist rituals.
