Iraq-based Ghanaian Leticia Kobina disclosed that her husband and the agent persuaded her to accept a GHS1500 job in the Middle Eastern country.
Leticia told DJ Nyaami on Daily Hustle Worldwide that it was her husband’s dream to travel, but the offer was for a household. As a result, they (her husband and agent) pressured her to take up the job and paid for her to migrate to Iraq.
“We moved from Ivory Coast to Ghana for him to start his process, but the Iraq offer came first. It was my husband and the agent who pressured me to come. I regretted it when I arrived in Iraq.
I cried because it took four hours for the agent to pick us up. Immediately, we arrived at the agency office, they locked us up in a room with other ladies. My salary was GHS1500 when I first came,” she said.
Moreover, Leticia mentioned that she would accept a housekeeping job in Ghana for the same fee.
“I will return to Ghana if I get a housekeeping job for the same salary. Today is my birthday, but I’m stuck inside. I’ve been here for almost two years, but I’ve gone out only three times. There’s no freedom here, but I’m still here because of the money,” she added.
