Belgium-based Ghanaian Joyce Kodua stated that she lost interest in marriage after her mom ruined her stable relationship with her fiancé.
Speaking on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Joyce revealed that she had a stable relationship in Ghana before migrating to Belgium. However, her mother ruined the relationship and even flashed her promise ring down the toilet.
According to Joyce, her mom was aware of their relationship, and she had approved of it. Moreover, she promised to help Joyce’s ex join her in Belgium after she settled. However, Joyce was forced to break up with him due to the sudden disapproval.
“She flashed the ring while I was away and rejected all calls from my ex. She said my ex was the reason I couldn’t complete school. Meanwhile, he put me through skill training,” she said.
While holding onto her long-time boyfriend, Joyce’s mother threw her out of the house. Miss Kodua became homeless and had to work as a house help in Amsterdam for shelter.
“The frustration from being homeless and working as a maid pushed me to break up with him. He told me to return to Ghana, but I didn’t have money for a flight ticket.
I told him to move on if he found another lady. Many men came, but my family rejected them. I have no interest in marriage anymore though men keep proposing,” Joyce added.
