Former North Suntreso Assemblyman Michael Owusu shared his travel journey from Brazil to the US by road and how his travel died.
In an interview on Daily Hustle Worldwide on SVTV AFRICA, the middle-aged man stated that he saw a mother and child dead in the forest. Also, his Nigerian travel buddy immediately died after a snakebite.
Mr Owusu indicated that America had always been his dream country and tried several ways to go by flight but failed. Years later, he travelled to Brazil at a friend’s request and stayed for a while. However, his friend moved back to Ghana permanently, leaving Michael to his fate.
“That was when I decided to join the bandwagon. Brazil was not a place I wanted to stay, and going back to Ghana was not an option. I knew the risks, but I wanted to go by any means. The US was my target,” he said.
Speaking on the cross-country journey, Mr Owusu disclosed the nature of the trip and advised the youths to never take such risks.
“We saw both mother and an 8-year-old child dead in the forest. The child was lying on the mother’s bosom. It could have been hunger or snakebite that caused their deaths.
We had about one and a half hours to board a canoe to Panama when my Nigerian travel buddy screamed, ‘Mike, something bit me.’ I put on a torch and saw a Black Cobra. He sat down and said, ‘Mike, I’m dying. I can’t continue this journey,’” Michael narrated.
Michael travelled across six countries from Brazil (Columbia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico) before getting to his destination. He arrived in the US six months ago.
