Germany-based Ghanaian Paul Boadi revealed that he was falsely accused of theft and deported after struggling in Berlin for ten years.
In an interview on SVTV AFRICA with DJ Nyaami, Mr Boadi mentioned that he travelled to Germany in 1991, and stayed for about ten years, but without a resident permit. As a result, it was easy for the German police and immigration to deport him despite being innocent.
“I was deported in 2001 after an issue. I was going to the hospital to visit a friend when I was arrested. Some Black guys had robbed a fuel station.
They took me to the station but realised I was not the robber. Since I had no documents, I mentioned someone’s name but the person who owed bus tickets. Then they entered my fingerprints into the system and found my real name,” he narrated.
According to Mr Boadi, he was transferred to a deportation camp where he opted for deportation. He had stayed in such camps in his first few years and did not want to stay anymore.
Paul stayed in Ghana for about a year and returned to Germany in 2001.
