Italy-based Ghanaian Akua Sika stated that she pressured her husband to build a house in Ghana when they were not financially stable in Italy.
In a chat on SVTV AFRICA with DJ Nyaami, Akua indicated that she joined her husband in Italy at age 19, two years after marriage. Akua added that life was tough after she migrated to Italy, but she pushed her husband to start a project in Ghana due to influence from other Ghanaians.
“My husband left for Italy when he was ten years and came back to marry me at age 18. I was 17 at the time. He had just started working, so life became tough for us, especially after I joined him.”
According to Akua Sika, they lived among Ghanaians and were influenced by them to build a house in Ghana. She stated that it was the biggest mistake of her life.
“We were suffering, but we wanted to build something back home. The Ghanaians intimidated us. It was like a competition, so we rushed into it. I realised that I was the one putting my husband in that stress. We became okay after the building was complete,” she revealed.
Akua advised other young Ghanaians to avoid intimidation and focus on building their lives abroad first.
