Ghanaian ‘Okada’ rider Francis Solo left Ghana for the UAE for greener pastures but returned frustrated with himself.
Speaking on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Francis revealed that he stayed in Dubai jobless for five months and only had two options to make enough for a flight ticket back home.
According to Francis, the agent promised him a job, but it was all lies. As a result, he had to either guard sex workers or sell illegal substances to make enough money to return home.
“I met a Ghanaian guy there and discussed my situation with him. He advised that the only way to survive is to enter the streets. He said there are two jobs there; one is to sell alcohol (illegal in Dubai).
The second one is guarding sex workers. I chose to sell the alcohol because I couldn’t do the other job. I did that for a while and got the money for the ticket,” he narrated.
Francis disclosed that he came to Ghana empty-handed with regrets. According to Francis, he could save about GHS2000 monthly as an ‘okay’ rider in Ghana but fell victim to a scam.
“I won’t listen to any agent again. My family advised me not to go, but I didn’t listen. I’ve regretted that decision. That’s why I want to share my story, so others don’t fall victim too.”
