US-based Ghanaian Lydia Boafo stated in an interview that she met her husband at 13 years and he promised her marriage in a few years.
In a chat on SVTV AFRICA with DJ Nyaami, Lydia indicated that she felt disgusted when he mentioned marriage, especially at that age. However, his husband did not give up and contacted her after a few years.
“He lived in Italy, but we met when I was a teenager. I got angry when he made that promise because I was young. A few years after that promise, he contacted me through friends, and we started talking. Eventually, we got married,” she said.
According to Lydia, a friend advised her to get pregnant before her husband travelled back to Europe. She took the advice and acted on it.
“When your husband is not in the country, it takes a while for them to visit. So during my wedding, a woman told me to get pregnant else it may delay,” she added.
