UK-based Ghanaian Bernice Nyame has advised that if one-half of a couple is travelling abroad, they must consider breaking up with them before making the trip because it may not last.
In an interview on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Bernice revealed that it is better to break their hearts before the trip than make promises because the probability that the relationship will end is high. She indicated that there are no certainties in long-distance relationships.
Bernice revealed that she made the tough decision of breaking up with her boyfriend of eight years before travelling to the UK. According to her, keeping a long distance would be difficult to do.
“I hope he has forgiven me because I broke his heart. I can’t do a long-distance relationship. So I broke up with him when I visited Ghana for the first time. We’re still friends, and I know he’s forgiven me.
I often counsel the Ghanaians who come to school here.”
“You never know what is ahead for you. If you have somebody you’re dating back home, break up before you leave. So they experience the broken heart early than make fancy promises and make them go through a worse break-up later,” Bernice told host DJ Nyaami.
