Italy-based Nigerian, Excellent has shared a story of how she was trafficked from her home country to Italy through the Libya desert and the Mediterranean Sea.
In an interview on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Excellent revealed that a woman convinced her parents to allow Excellent to travel to Europe, where she would accommodate and find a good job for her, but at a fee.
According to Excellent, the agent charged 25,000 Euros for the trip, which she would pay after securing a job. However, she did not tell Excellent or her parents that she was going without the agent or that it would be a stowaway.
As terrifying as the trip was, Excellent arrived safely in an Italy asylum camp and had to wait for the agent’s husband to pick her up.
“The husband called, I told him where I was, and he said he’ll send someone to pick me up. While at the camp, we started making friends, and a Gambian guy told me about how young girls are trafficked and forced into prostitution.
So he advised me not to go with the man. Instead, I should stay in camp and get my documents. Later, I called to tell him the authorities had transferred me. So that they won’t come looking for me,” she disclosed.
Moreover, Excellent mentioned that before travelling out of Nigeria, they visited a “native doctor and made me swear that I won’t run. So I told her I was willing to pay the money, and that curse won’t work because I didn’t run from her.”
Eventually, Excellent settled into Italy and currently works as a welder. She shares her experience in the field and life in general in Europe.
