Single father, Abeiku, has disclosed that he borrowed about GHS25,000 for his best friend to clear his goods, but he fled the country soon after.
Speaking on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Abeiku mentioned that his friend needed to clear his goods at the port and borrowed an amount to help his friend. According to Abeiku, his friend had helped him previously and trusted him to pay him back.
“He often brings in phones, laptops and TVs. So when he asked me for that amount, honestly, I didn’t have it. I asked around, and I hadn’t been able to pay them still. I gave the GHS25,000 to him on a Thursday, and he said he’d give it back on Monday.
But I didn’t call that day because I didn’t want to put him under pressure. I called on Tuesday, but he didn’t pick up. The next day, his phone was off. I reached out to his cousin, and they said he was planning on leaving for Europe,” he disclosed.
Abeiku revealed that he is currently jobless and still in debt to those he borrowed from. Moreover, his wife is heavily pregnant and may have to vacate their rented apartment due to rent arrears.
