Nana Ama Amoakoah has warned the Ghanaian youth against waiting to be employed in the corporate space and encouraged them to venture into other career options.
In a chat on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Nana Ama advised the youths to avoid waiting for a corporate job because they may wait forever. She mentioned that the economic situation in Ghana puts the youths in a difficult position.
“There are no jobs available, and the ones available don’t pay enough. Looking at the dispensation in which we find ourselves, you’ll wait forever if you sit around waiting to be employed.
You have to do something for yourself, so you don’t become a burden. I make about GHS150 to GHS200 per head. Imagine I braid three people’s hair a day. Some weeks are busy, and others are not, but it’s good.”
Moreover, Nana Ama added that she is comfortable outside the corporate world because “you get some freedom in working on your own. Being in the corporate world is liven by a cycle, and you can’t do much, especially when the job is demanding. When you work on your own, you have total control over your time.”
Speaking on the economic situation, Ama Amoakoah stated there is very little hope for Ghana because the average Ghanaian cannot afford to satisfy their basic needs. She noted that Ghanaians are hardworking, but they do not enjoy the fruits of their labour.
