US-based Ghanaian Joey Essah Gyebi enlightened persons interested in joining the US army on how to apply, the requirements needed and why he joined.
Speaking on SVTV AFRICA with Daily Hustle Worldwide, Joey indicated that he decided to join the US army to enjoy the benefits offered. As a learner, Joey took advantage of the free scholarship given to grab a master’s degree.
“They say education is the key to success, and I love to study. I had a bachelor’s degree and wanted to get a master’s. So why don’t I join the army for them to sponsor my education?
Besides that, there are other benefits. I could become a citizen and many others. That was how the idea came about. I met someone who had been in it before and told me about it,” he said.
Moreover, Joey shared some requirements and debunked misconceptions about the recruitment process. He noted that the US army does not recruit from other countries.
“It’s an easy process to join the US army. There’s no ‘connection man’ anywhere. The only person who can recruit you is the recruiter. That’s his job. There is nothing like applying online in a different country. You must be in the US and have a green card to join the military. Anything else is a scam.”
