Germany-based Ghanaian Ben Zola has stated that despite the hardship in the world, even in leading economies, Ghanaians abroad must stop comparing Ghana’s crisis to that.
According to Ben, they must not compare both economies because life abroad is a hundred per cent better than in Ghana. Speaking on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Show, Ben Zola indicated that Ghana’s future is bleak.
“Ghana has no future. All the ‘it shall be well’ sayings are just talks to motivate us because we know the situation is bad. A president comes to do what he wants, and then he leaves. We don’t have a system that forces them to continue the predecessor’s legacy. So there is no future. He steps down after spending some of the money.”
Moreover, Ben stated that Germany is also experiencing price hikes too/ However, they are not as frequent as in Ghana’s case. Also, they increase salaries to help citizens cope with the price hike.
“We are all facing the economic crisis, but they have raised salaries. (Compare) the rate at which prices increase in Ghana and Europe…The Russian war is closer to Europe than Ghana, but it doesn’t affect them more than Ghana. The prices go up in Germany too, but they go down as often,” Ben stated.
The Filmmaker concluded that he does not blame police officers who take bribes in Ghana because “the hunger and stress are too much.”
