SVTV Africa and its Foundation have sponsored a young man, Eugene, who was stranded in Mauritania with a flight ticket back to Ghana.
Eugene arrived at the Kotoka airport on Thursday, July 21, after several months of staying in Mauritania with an expired passport.
In an online interview, Eugene revealed that “the only job available for immigrants is hotel or restaurant work, but the immigrants are many. They allow Guineans to come as refugees, and they are allowed to work. But it is difficult for the rest of us to get jobs.”
After the interview, viewers of patrons of SVTV Africa Foundation contributed to making his return to Ghana a success. He visited the SVTV Africa studio on Monday, July 25, to express his gratitude for the support.
“I want to thank the people that brought me back. The people that contributed to buying my flight ticket to come back to Ghana. it’s not easy for anybody to host you, even out there…I thank them so much,” he said.
With his experience, Eugene advised the Ghanaian youth “to be mindful of what they want to do. If you want to travel with an invite visa, it won’t help unless you have a working or student visa. If you get an offer letter here, then they can go nut it’s not possible to get a job with your tourist visa.”
