US-based Ghanaian Winifred has revealed that his uncle threw her out of his house after she decided to buy a house in Chicago after three years of work.
Speaking with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa, Madam Winifred indicated that she paid half the rent and cooked for her uncle, but she believed it would be better to make a down payment on a house instead. According to her, this may have caused a rift between her and her uncle.
“It became obvious that he did not want me to live with him anymore. At the time, I worked 16 hours a day for three years. I had saved enough money to buy a house. I don’t know whether that was why he wanted me out.
Initially, he did not want me to work, but I came here for work. I don’t know why he told me not to. I was not underage, and I had the permit to work,” the mother of two said.
According to Winifred, she took her uncle to three realtors to see the houses, but he told her to pack out after each visit. Eventually, she left Chicago for Worcester without buying the home.
“I don’t know why he sacked me because he was my father’s younger brother, so there was nothing like disrespect. When I got here, someone discouraged me from buying the house. It is my biggest regret because that would have been a start for me to do other projects,” she added.
