Former Ghana international Awudu Issaka has stated that the Ghana Football Association must give former footballer and manager of Elmina Sharks, Nii Odartey Lamptey chance to coach either the Black Starlets or Satellites.
Speaking on SVTV Africa, Awudu mentioned that Ghana must make good use of such talents to groom the young footballers for the Black Stars.
“He has the talent and experience from his time abroad, and he has a sports academy too, but Ghana doesn’t even invite him to any ‘sporting’ event. If the GFA allows him to coach under 17 or 20, it will help.”
Moreover, Awudu mentioned, “I can coach the starlets too, but they won’t give it to me. They don’t even see me, let alone Odartey Lamptey.”
“I will travel to all the regions and scout the players. I want players who will attend school besides the training. English becomes a problem during interviews, so they need school.”
The former under-17 FIFA World Cup winner is the head of the Royal Awudu Issaka Soccer Academy (FC RAISA). He manages about 28 players currently.
Awudu mentioned that the second division league lacks sponsorship. He encouraged corporate bodies to sponsor FC Raisa and other division two teams.
