Felika Mahama decided to set up a mobile car wash after quitting her full-time job at the forestry Commission in 2021.
She graduated from the University of Development Studies with a degree in Languages and Integrated Development Studies. However, her dream was to become a lawyer.
Speaking on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Felika mentioned the upsurge in delivery services, especially during the pandemic gave her the idea to ‘deliver’ her car wash service to customers.
Miss Mahama spoke about the challenges involved in running a mobile car wash business.
“Some people refuse to pay GHs20 after washing and complain that the washing bays take GHs15, but I drive around. Their words often discourage me, but the encouragements are more,” she said.
“Also, we go home every time we run out of water, and we lose customers because they can’t wait. We plan to get a bigger car to store more water to work.”
According to Felika, she is not interested in working for a company anymore. She believes in nurturing her business and will offer to work anywhere else.
“It’s been four months since we began. So I know that money won’t come because we factor in fuel, water, the car may break down, and all. Presently, we charge GHs20 per wash, and it takes just 20 mins for a salon car,” she added.
Felika is the owner of Park and Bright and also a mother.
