France based Ghanaian musician Naafia Charlotte has disclosed that she was not allowed to perform at a church in Takoradi because she wore slippers and not heels.
In a chat on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Charlotte mentioned that she was pregnant at the time, but she was decently dressed for a performance. According to Charlotte, no one was allowed to perform unless they were in heels.
“Someone whispered into my ears that the pastor has set a rule that no one must take the stage unless they are in heels. I was sad and embarrassed. I felt humiliated,” she told DJ Nyaami.
Moreover, Charlotte mentioned that many Ghanaian pastors do not support gospel artists. She believes she would have been a much bigger artiste if they did.
Charlotte began singing at an early age, especially at gospel concerts and events. However, all the pastors do is shower praises on her.
“I always that pastors don’t support gospel musicians. If they did, you might have heard of me, but all they say is ‘God will take you far’ but nothing else. I’ll get emotional if I recall some of the things they do,” she told DJ Nyaami.
Naafia Charlotte prefers to be called a musician. According to Charlotte, she does not want to be restricted to just the gospel because she can create and perform secular music as well.
