“If you wish to stay here, it is much better because they are hospitable, and Portugal does not have stringent laws for immigrants. If Africans knew about it, they would have rushed here,” Thomas told DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa.

Speaking on the cost of living in Portugal, Thomas revealed that Portugal’s minimum wage is much lower than Germany or Italy. However, the cost of living is lower with affordable house rent and bills.

He also mentioned that, unlike Germany, where Africans suffer discrimination, Portugal is accommodating to every race.

“You would meet a German on the train, and they would get off because of you. Also, the weather is much more comfortable in Portugal than in Germany.”

Thomas added that immigrants apply for permanent residence after five years of living in Portugal continuously.

Thomas is a student at the Ingeldorf Institute of Technology. He is studying Medical Informatics.
