Portugal-based Ghanaian Pious Boateng has disclosed that Ghanaians barely see the importance of psychology as a career in Ghana, hence his decision to move to Germany after his first degree in psychology.
In an interview on ‘Daily Hustle Worldwide’ with DJ Nyaami, Pious disclosed that he got the opportunity to get a Masters in Psychology. However, he did not see any prospects of getting a job in Ghana.
“I decided to leave Ghana because it may be difficult to get a job after my national service even though I got an admission offer to study for my masters at the University of Cape Coast.”
Pious mentioned that despite the vast opportunities in the field, Ghanaians do not regard it as much as Europeans or Americans do.
“You can work in any field after studying psychology because you study management, health, etc., but Ghana undermines the essence of psychology. It is an important course that needs to be checked,” he said on SVTV Africa.
Pious studied Bachelor of Science in Psychology at UCC and completed his service at the College of Distance Education (CODE) at the same university.
Presently, Mr. Boateng is a resident of Portugal. According to Pious, he only stayed in Germany for ten days. He indicated that a friend invited him to Portugal, and after five years, he got a permanent residence.
