Kofi Appiah is a Ghanaian Network engineer who has been living in the US for over 40 years. He currently works with the Bank of America as part of the risk technology team.
In an exclusive interview on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Mr. Appiah shared his story on Daily Hustle Worldwide. According to Mr. Appiah, he studied at a presbyterian university in North Carolina while working in the school’s cafeteria and as a security.
Mr. Appiah studied with a percentage of scholarship for four years. With the help of his brother and his little income, “I paid my way out, and I did an additional information systems upgrade. Right from there, Bank of America recruited me based on my credentials and stats.”
Mr. Appiah revealed that he has been working for the Corporation for 32 years as a part of the risk technology team.
He explained that as part of the risk technology team, they “write algorithms to determine if somebody is clean-cut or out there to steal money. We can also tell if someone qualifies for money based on what we call risk rating.”
Mr. Kofi Appiah mentioned that he did not have a hassle finding a job due to the recruitment program at the university.
Speaking on job opportunities in the US, Mr. Appiah indicated that Africans must prove themselves capable of working in companies abroad to avoid being laid off.
Mr. Appiah is married to an American with two children.
