Qatar-based Ghanaian engineer Alexander Essuman has disclosed that he makes over 5000 Qatari Rial (GHS10K) as a CCTV engineer and team leader.
Speaking on SVTV Africa, Alexander revealed that others make 10K Rial (GHS20K). He hopes to earn the same amount, but after taking several courses to improve his skills. He mentioned that many Europeans live and make ‘fat salaries’ in Qatar.
“I’m not close to the level I want to get here. Someone makes 50K rials which is 100K cedis a month, because of the certificate he has. The courses are expensive, but you need to force yourself if you want to earn that much.”
“The certificate secures the project, and you become the project engineer. You train and supervise the trainees,” he said on Daily Hustle Worldwide.
Mr. Essuman disclosed that he was offered jobs in the US and Canada before, but the companies refused to sponsor his trip to the countries.
“I would have to pay about $12K to the US, Canada, or Australia. I won’t do that. So if they need me, they should give me a ticket. I have family back home, so I can’t start from scratch in another country,” he added.
Speaking on life in the Arab country, Mr. Essuman mentioned that the Qataris are a lovely people. According to him, it is very safe to work if you have the right qualifications.
