Nicholas Larweh has revealed that a popular travel and tour company duped him into taking a loan and selling his car to secure travel documents to Croatia.
Speaking on SVTV Africa, Nicholas shared his plight with DJ Nyaami pleading for support from Ghanaians to help settle his debt. According to Nicholas, he saw the advertisement on television and approached them for inquiries.
He indicated that before this, he had stayed in Qatar for four years and saved GHs20k to buy a car for a ride-hailing service.
“The manager told me that every country has its cost, so I picked Croatia, but I told him that all I had left was the car. He told me to sell the car, and in 45 days, my documents will be ready.
After selling it, I paid GHs3500 and gave him my passport. Five months later, he called me to pay my second payment, which was GHs9000,” he explained.
Two weeks after, Nicholas disclosed that the agency called to inform him that the visa application was not successful. However, his name has been added to another list, this time to Israel.
“He told me it was a government protocol and that we will leave on December 14. In November, he told me that it had been successful and that I needed to settle the final payment. I had no money for that,” he added.
Nicholas added that he applied for a bank loan of GHs4000 and other loans from family and friends to settle the bill, but it was not the entire amount. According to Nicholas, the manager encouraged him to sell his home appliances to pay the bill.
“After that, the manager confirmed to me that we will go on the 14th. But on the 14th, they said some members did not pay, so we have to wait for them.”
Nicholas revealed that he complained to the Visa fraud department of the police headquarters. However, on his third visit, the officer sacked him from the office. The agency has seized his passport and has refused to pay him back.
He paid an amount of GHs27,000 in all for travel documents to work in Israel.
Nicholas is pleading for financial support to settle his debt. His wife is also a nursing mother with no food to feed the baby.
