Italy-based Ghanaians have disclosed that among 170 people on an inflatable boat to Italy, 70 of them died, and Paa Joe shares his journey with DJ Nyaami.
Joe mentioned that their boat was supposed to carry 100 people however, the agents overloaded the people causing 70 people to lose their lives.
In an interview on SVTV Africa, Joe stated that “for those of us in the middle, our boats sank, but we had life jackets, and it helped a lot. When we were rescued, 70 of us had died.”
After they rescued us, they threw a net into the sea, and they were many dead bodies. There was another boat carrying 100 people, but only one survived.
Joe revealed that the journey from Libya to Italy is not short as people perceive. According to him, it was a three-day journey from the rescuing point to the city.
Paa Joe has been in Bologna, Italy for ten years, but he hasn’t visited Ghana yet. According to him, they work for a few months based on the weather and stay home for the rest of the year.
