Ekow Jones is a middle-aged shoe trader who still hopes of traveling to the U.S.A because it was a promise made by his father over 20 years ago.
Speaking with DJ Nyaami of SVTV Africa, he revealed that his father always planned on taking him abroad. However, whenever his father visited the country, he was out of town working.
“I was hoping to travel, but whenever my father came to Ghana, I was on a work trip. He was a seaman at the time. He came here four times, but I never met him. At the time, there were no phones for communication. So I got angry and traveled,” he said.
According to him, traveling abroad was an expectation. As a result, his growth was stifled, making things slow.
“If I had a brother there, I wouldn’t be worried, but for my father, he told me that he would come for him before anyone else. He is now married to a white lady, so it has become difficult to come to Ghana,” he added.
