28-year-old Maame Yaa lives with a caretaker in a village called Saakye located in the Central region. According to an elder in the village, Maame Yaa fell ill when she was young. However, she was administered a wrong injection which led to her current state.

Speaking with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa, the head of the community Nana Kweku Asare stated that she has been left unattended for years. She was also unable to attend school ever since.

“Her mom is out of town for medical treatment and her father has passed away so she is alone. A lady here sometimes gives her food. She has two other siblings but they barely visit her,” he revealed.

He added that Maame Yaa has become a laughingstock in the village while others call her a witch due to her condition. Despite her age, she looks and behaves like a teenager.

Presently, Maame Yaa needs a wheelchair to aid her movement. Kindly support her through SVTV Africa Foundation. Contact SVTV Africa to donate.
