President of Ghana baseball and softball association, Mr Albert Frimpong has disclosed that the aforementioned association has never received support from any government for the past ten years.
According to Mr Frimpong, he assumed the position ten years ago and have gone through all the formalities needed to secure funds for his team but it never sees the light of day.
He told DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa that Ghana is the third strongest baseball hub in Africa however, there is no support. The support comes from some group of Japanese.
“Since I became president, the government has not given us a cedi. If anyone says otherwise, they should come out. Ghana Olympic Committee gave us 5,000 for an event we did. Even that, I’m a board member so the support came.
They always tell us to bring our program and calendar with the budget but we never see anything. Maybe the new minister will make a change,” he said.
He added that it was through his efforts that the association and national baseball team got a park built by the Japanese. Mr Frimpong is a retired baseball player with over 30 years of experience. He is also the president of the Skate Soccer Ghana Federation.
