Drug Law Enforcement Unit of the Ghana Police Service has impounded a Rhino Cargo truck with registration number GR 2474-16 loaded with bales of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis commonly referred to as wee.
The contraband goods which were loaded from Nsawkaw was heading towards Banda through Banda Nkwanta bound for Burkina Faso.
Police Investigators revealed to MyNewsGh.com that they acted upon intelligence and swiftly traced the truck and intercepted it at a section of the road between Menji and Banda near the Bui dam driven by suspect driver Ayuba Ali aged 27null
The suspect on board with his drivers mate, Ametus Sori aged 20 claimed they are both natives of Kunnyukuon near Babile in the Upper West region.
During interrogation, the suspect driver admitted transporting the bales of suspected cannabis which he alleged was contracted by a certain man at Nsawkaw whose name he does not know but can identify when seen to transport them to Hamile for a fee of GHC7,000.00.
Both suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, officials of the Ghana Police Service confirmed to MyNewsGh.com.
