Ghanaian artiste and ‘Asa bone’ hitmaker, Lord Paper has revealed that the current state of veteran artiste, Okomfour Kwadee is a clear reflection of the failures of our music royalty system.
Okomfour Kwadee is one of the pioneers of Hiplife in Ghana but due to mental illness he has not been active in the music scene and his recent photos on social media suggest that all is not well.
Lord Paper in an exclusive interview with Amansan Krakye on Cape Coast-based GBC Radio Central monitored by MyNewsGh.com, said that several hit songs released by Okomfour Kwadee should be enough to cater for him but for our ailing royalty system.
“Okomfour Kwadee’s case I believe that royalties should be enough to take care of him because he had several hit songs back in those days.
“Also the music board should be able to take care of the legends and not just Okomfour Kwadee alone but I don’t know how the organization of all these is done so it looks like each one for himself. If you get you enjoy alone and if you don’t have you suffer alone but it is not supposed to be like that.
“There should be a structure since these legends are supposed to be making a lot of money because seriously okomfour is having bangers upon bangers which I play nonstop on rotation so if he’s not making money and he is suffering right now then it means we need to structure our system very well because it’s so bad.
“We have to definitely do something about it urgently, he sadly concluded.
