Residents of Tema Community two around the Tema Senior high school has faced their almost forgotten nightmare when floods from Wednesday’s rains rendered them still and some virtually homeless.
The flood which happened right in front of Temasco has forced inhabitants and road users to vacate and seek alternative routes to their destination.
Some residents and traders who spoke to SVTV Africa said, An elderly man who was going home nearly drowned in the waters while trying to drive in the flood.
“An Elderly man and his wife on their way home nearly drowned with his car. So an Uber driver and I had to rush in and help pull them out and rush them to a nearby hospital.” A road user said.
Kwadwo, who is a resident also revealed that, the floods has brought them to their “wits’ end”.
“Every time it rains, the roads get flooded. We can’t use or walk on the road. We are now at our wits’ end. The Authorities have to do something about it immediately before we enter the raining season in June. After it’s fixed, it will solve the flooding problem because this is not a natural disaster, it’s an inept drainage system and if we don’t solve it now, it could escalate to a big disaster.” Kwadwo said.
Meanwhile, some houses, walls, shops has gathered a lot of rubbish and cars pulled by strong currents of the water.
NADMO officials and City Authorities have not been spotted in the area yet.
