The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has lifted bans on Coach Vincent Akai Nettey, Osman Brew, and John Clottey, for their misconduct during a bout in 2018.
Nettey, Brew and Clottey were banned for three months each for misconducting themselves during a World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa super bantamweight championship fight between Isaac Sackey and Wasiru Mohammed in which the latter won.
The trio, who were part of Sackey’s cornermen during the bout, together with their supporters created chaos at the Bukom Boxing Arena in disagreement with referee Adorn Bertin’s decision to stop the fight in favour of Wasiru over a knockdown in the third round.
In a statement issued and signed by the General Secretary of the GBA, Patrick Johnson, the three officials have been recalled to resume their roles as boxing coaches.
“The GBA wishes them well on the resumption and hopes it will mark a new chapter in their career.”
