The Ghana Health Service (GHS) on Saturday released details of the 28 dead persons from the deadly coronavirus pandemic.
Among the diseases listed by the GHS as having aided the virus to take the lives of the 28 were hypertension, diabetes, mellitus, asthma and liver-related diseases.
Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, Director-General of the GHS, Dr Kuma Aboahye, noted hypertension and diabetes as the top two diseases that facilitated their demise.
Dr Aboagye said the underlying health conditions of the decease reduced their chances of survival.
The hypertension, stroke or diabetes on its own can kill you, and so when the coronavirus comes to add to it, it makes a person more susceptible to death, he said.
