The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has revealed that the President is in talks with stakeholders on reopening schools soon.
He made this revelation in an Instagram live Q&A session with Ghanaians today. “The gov’t is looking at reopening schools. The President is engaging with stakeholders to know the way forward.”
According to him the government will be considering regular testing on kids when schools resume and will also have to make sure every student is equipped with face masks before reporting to school.
The Minister acknowledged that the decison and measures are a bit complicated and assured the Ghanaian populace that, “the Presidnet will update us soon on the matter.”
Ghana on Monday, March 16, 2020 closed all schools, universities and suspended public events to stop the spread of coronavirus as a string of African nations imposed tighter restrictions to stem the spread of the global pandemic.
President Nana Akufo-Addo announced in an address to the nation that the authorities were shutting schools and universities “until further notice”.
Public gatherings, including conferences, religious services, sports matches and political rallies have also been suspended.
