Actress Martha Ankomah has tasked Ghanaian celebrities to make out the most from their huge following on social media.
According to Martha, several Ghanaian celebrities are so focused on posting pictures on social media just to cheer on their fans.
The actress, speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb stressed that social media has become a popular platform for celebrities, individuals and corporate bodies because it allows them to reach people no matter their location.
Instead of capitalizing on technology to market their brands and also impact society, the focus, she said, has always been gaining likes.
“What are we the celebrities doing to help the government fight the coronavirus, we have a strong voice, most of us have about 5million plus followers on Instagram and other platforms but it’s quite unfortunate that we don’t post things that would educate them, we can be educating them about the devastating effect of Coronavirus in our local dialect and that would really help,” she said.
The actress further bemoaned Ghanaians’ attitude towards the Coronavirus fight. She observed that several Ghanaians have defied the president’s social distancing order which is very troubling.
Martha intimated that she has visited the markets on several occasions since the emergence of Coronavirusbut hardly did she see market women in their nose mask.
“I’ve been to the market about three times since the president imposed the social distancing ban on Ghanaians but hardly would see them in their nose masks or adhering to the social distancing order, the few ones who have it have tied it around their neck like a neck chain,” she stated.
