Some traders at Kasoa New Market in the Central Region, have reportedly invoked curses on the Awutu Senya East Municipal Taskforce, for forcing them to wear nose masks.
In line with the President’s directive of mandatory wearing of nose masks, traders at the Kasoa market like other traders, were required to wear nose masks while engaging in their daily trading activities but a member of the Awutu taskforce, Francis Patapaa, said that was not the situation when they arrived at the market.
Francis, an assistant to the operations commander claimed, most traders at the market were not in the nose masks as required.
“Our MCE approved and tasked us to go around and sure that the President’s directive is being followed but when we got to the market, some were not in the masks.
“While working this morning, we came across some women who were not wearing some. When we asked them to get some, they started invoking curses on us.
“We came across another man who also refused to wear the mask even after we told him. He said he didn’t see the need. We insisted but he still refused. He rather went for a bottle of schnapps with some eggs,” Mr Patapaa alleged while speaking to Adom News.
Mr. Patapaa added that “he [the man] said we were forcing him so he will curse us. Truly, he did. He poured the schnapps and broke the eggs but later, some elders from the community asked him to reverse the curse.
“Because of the nose masks, we are being cursed,” Mr Patapaa added.
He, however, stated that the task force won’t relent on its duty of ensuring that the President’s directive of mandatory nose mask wearing is enforced.
