GOSPEL musician Melody Frimpong has revealed that most of her colleagues are not Christians and do not have any personal relationship with God.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz recently, she urged such Gospel artistes to draw closer to God.
“I have been in close contact with most of these Gospel musicians and I know what I am talking about. They gossip, backbite and their lifestyles are nothing to write home about.
“The work we do requires that our lifestyles reflect the messages we preach in our songs but that is not seen in some of us. If they were true Christians I don’t think they would gossip, backbite or live a certain lifestyle,” she said.
Melody Frimpong said she disagreed with anyone who said one didn’t have to be spiritual to do Gospel music.
“Our lives should reflect in the music we do for our fans. We cannot sing about loving one another and do the direct opposite, gossip about others and fight each other,” she said.
Touching on other matters, Melody Frimpong said she believed Gospel musicians or any musician for that matter should have a second job.
“Our work is seasonal and we can’t have money all the time so this is the time we should think of getting a second job. I have witnessed Gospel musicians insulting men of God when they perform in their churches and don’t get paid.
“The musician comes all the way with his or her band and you don’t want to pay them. I don’t think that is fair to us the musicians. We need the money to record new songs,” she said.
Melody Frimpong also said she wouldn’t mind featuring a secular musician as long as the artiste sings positive songs. “I wouldn’t mind doing a collaboration with an artiste such as Kofi Kinaata because he does very good music,” she said.
She is currently promoting her latest song Boa Yen telling people that in times like this, the only thing we can do is to pray to the Almighty God to save the world.
Signed to Cebex Production, Melody Frimpong hopes to break through with her latest single which is enjoying great reviews on YouTube. She explained that promotion is a bit slow because of the coronavirus which has affected almost everything in the world.
