Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah says the government has written to the Bank of Ghana and the National Media Commission to address issues of scammers and mallams chanting money on live television, MyNewsGh.com can report.
Ghana’s media space especially, television has been awash with content from Mallams and fraudsters who claim to chant monies on live television.
There have been several complaints from consumers of these contents because to them, as they indicate that such acts need not be given prominence on television but for years, it continue to persist with no signs of stoppage in sight.
Speaking on this issue o Accra-based Peace FM, the Information Minister mentioned that government has taken notice of such worrying content on television and has taken some measures to ensure it’s not given prominence going forward. ‘
He said a letter has been written to the Bank of Ghana to clamp down on these individuals chanting money because it’s the sole preserve of the Bank of Ghana to produce notes of money in the country.
The Minister also indicate that a letter has been written to the National Media Commission that regulates content on various media platforms to draw their attention to the various contents put out there by these media platforms so they can deal with them.
He was hopeful that in the coming days, some action will be seen to clamp down on such stale content of National Television.
