Stop calling old artists “expired”- Kuami Eugene to Ghanaians


Most Ghanaians have the habit of "retiring" artistes even before they take a decision to retire and Hiplife artiste Kwami Eugene has sent a word of caution to such Ghanaians.

The "Angela" hitmaker, in an interview with SVTV Africa, indicated that being in the Music Industry for quite some time does not make it compulsory for the artist to retire as some Ghanaians say. 

According to Kuami Eugene, Ghana lacks a fair number of artists because of the attitude of sending artists to an early retirement.

" If pioneers like Nana Boro, Tic Tac release tracks this instant insult would be hurled at them and they would be asked to leave the music career for the young ones, however, we support Nigerian artistes who the same number of years as our artists in the industry." Kuami Eugene said

Kuami Eugene also asked Industry players and Ghanaians to open arms for underground artists because they are are trying to give the Industry vibrant.

Kuami Eugene entered the MTN Hitmaker Competition in 2016 and finished at the second-runner up position in the season’s finale. He was signed shortly after to the award-winning Ghanaian record, Lynx Entertainment.

Mafias have Taken Over GHAMRO; I Got only GHC140 MoMo For My Father’s Music - Obibini Takyi

United Kingdom-based First Klass Music Signee Obibini Takyi Junior, has lamented bitterly over the level of mafia and daylight robbery being exhibited by Ghana Music Copyright chamber GHAMRO.

According to the embittered young musician, who happens to be the son of the late Obibini Takyi Senior of 'Akosombo Nkanea' fame, he was very dissatisfied and disappointed to see GHAMRO paying as low as GHC140 as copyright royalties.

Obibini Takyi Junior, was speaking in an entertainment Chat show on Online TV SVTV AFRICA on Wednesday afternoon.

"I received a Mobile Money alert recently from GHAMRO only to discover GHC140 as Payment for copyright royalties for my father's music. This shows that a lot of stealing is going on at GHAMRO considering the level of peanuts being distributed across. My father played his part in the music industry and should be given the due royalties because it was his creative art."

He further added that GHAMRO is not even showing mercy on those old musicians who are nomore active in the music industry but have their music being played till date.

Obibini Takyi has been working on a couple of music projects behind the scenes but his current music project, Boso Powder is making huge waves.

Prophet Kumchacha, Patapaa smoke peace pipe


"One corner" hitmaker Patapaa and controversial Prophet, Prophet Kumchacha have patched out their differences.

The two after not talking to each other and throwing insults to each other decided to end the feud on SVTV Africa's entertainment show SVTV CHAT. 

Patapaa in an interview with SVTV Africa explained that there is no need throwing shades at the prophet and has decided to be at peace with the man of God.

"I have forgiven Prophet Kumchacha, being at war with each other won't yield any results," Patapaa told host Ayisha Bayipa

Prophet Kumchacha, on the other hand, has accepted Patapaa's apology and prayed for the grace of God upon him and his music career.

We don't know the exact root of the fight between these two, however, most Ghanaians are of the view that Prophet Kumchacha's utterances against Patapaa's music (saying that his song is a nuisance to the ear) angered the latter and triggered him to insult the Prophet.

Wendy Shay eyes collaborations with Sarkodie, Kuami Eugene


Ghanaian songstress, Wendy Shay, has dropped hints of dropping an upcoming collaboration with BET award winning rapper Sarkodie and "Wish me Well" hitmaker Kwami Eugene.

Although the "Uber Driver" hitmaker refused to give a "freestyle" of the song, she hinted that it is a gospel song which is meant to inspire her fans.

"I would release a gospel collaboration with Kwami Eugene and Sarkodie next month so fans should keep calm and watch out" Wendy stated.

Wendy Shay who many have described as the replacement of the late Ebony added that she would release her first album hopefully by the end of the year.

"He hasn't influenced Ghana in any way and even if he does he won't be celebrated." Lawyer Ampaw stated

Be content with royalties from GHAMRO - Flow Kingstone to musicians


For the past months, there has been grumbling among musicians that royalties paid to them by the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) are nothing to write home about. 

However, award-winning rapper and songwriter, Kwaku Nsiah Boamah popularly known as Flowking Stone has asked his fellow artists to appreciate the little they are given. 

According to him, Chairman of the organization Rex Omar tries everything in his capacity to pay what is deem them. 

"Money we receive as royalties is not expensive but half a loaf is better than none. It can be better but for now, I appreciate their (GHAMRO) efforts." Flow King Stone explained in an interview with SVTV AFRICA 

Flow King Stone advised his fellow artists not to be greedy and ask for more rather they should be content with the little they receive. 

"For now we receive about thousand cedis for three months, it's not okay but let's appreciate it and work to get more.'' the member of the defunct group Bradez reached out to his, fellow musicians.

I never snubbed Eshun - Wendy Shay


Rufftown records signee Wendy Shay says she never ignored Eshun when she sent her a DM(Direct Message)

Speaking on SVTV AFRICA, the "Uber Driver" hitmaker explained that she didn't come across Eshun's message.

"I get a lot of messages and I'm mostly busy so i don't really pay attention to messages i receive." Wendy Shay stated

She apologized to her fellow songstress for "ignoring her message."

"Honestly, I didn't see her DM (Direct message) and I'm really sorry i didn't reach out to her when you reached out to me."

Highlife musician, eShun has complained about how Rufftown Records signee Wendy Shay, ignored her when she tried reaching out to her.

The songstress explained how she tried reaching out to her colleague, Wendy after she was misquoted to have called the latter talentless.

Wendy is currently promoting her new song dubbed, “Astalavista”.

Samini makes dancehall more commercial - Jupita

Dancehall artiste Michael Okine, popularly referred to Jupita in showbiz have pointed fingers to the media. accusing them of failing to appreciate their (artistes) works.

Jupita comparing Nigeria's Music Industry to Ghana stated that artistes are given the needed respect in Nigeria and are seen as very important people in their country whereas artistes in Ghana are less respected.

"When you go to Nigeria, there are musicians who released songs for a long time but their ratings keep on increasing because they are respected by the media and new artistes." Jupita stated

 The "Enemies" hit maker speaking to Ayisha Bayipa on SVTV africa's SVTV Chat added that the media is a carrier of the negative aspect in the Music Industry and ignores the positive ones.

Speaking on Dancehall artiste in Ghana, Jupita explained that although lots of people started Dancehall in Ghana, Samini has made the genre commercial in Ghana.
